Bicycle was the first self driven metal machine which did not involve animals. Invented in early 1800’s is did not involve any form of fuel. Bicycles only need minimum physical strength to move it. That is why it is probably liked even by kids.

To this day bicycle remains the cheapest mode of transport for a single person. Rather than taking a public transport like or train or bus or owning a huge automotive vehicle like car or motorcycle, bicycles are cheaper and helps you keep your health fit.

Easy bicycle ride:
It is far easy to ride a bicycle in traffic than riding a bike or car. Although it is hard to use it for long distance drives, bicycles are quite appropriate to use while we go on small errands to a shop or to visit a nearby church or someone who lives across a mile.

  • This ride will save the money and fuel.
  • Helps you burn some calories
  • Helps you get some fresh air
  • Give good exercise to your body
  • Finding a place to park the bicycle easy

Bicycle is the most low cost means of self mobilization:
To this day bicycle is the cheapest means of transportation. Bicycle does not need much money or maintenance. It is quite a lot if we spent a few bugs to keep it in condition. It does not need major servicing in every fortnight or fuel like petrol or diesel which makes it most economical.

Bicycles are used more in eastern countries than in the west. Bicycles are used for various purposes. In many underdeveloped countries bicycle is probably the only vehicle people could afford. They use it for their livelihood in different ways.

In most eastern countries children use bicycles to go to school. Elders use it to do different jobs like shifting goods, selling products in the bicycle, carrying heavy loads in the bicycle carrier.

Bicycle helps earn livelihood:
Bicycles and newspapers have a special connection. To his day most of the distributors use bicycles only to deliver newspaper to each and every house in the morning. Bicycles are easy to park and are not so heavy. So they feel it easy to load reams of paper into it and stop in front of each house balancing the bicycle.

Most of the bicycles are produced today in china. India and other African nations are the main consumers. Though bicycles are not used much in Europe or America it is still used as a machine to earn livelihood in most of the developing countries.

The most common means of moving goods in South African, Indian and Chinese countries is tricycle. It has three wheels and large wooden plank attached at the back to load goods.

Apart from this bicycle is the only form of transport available in many villages where there aren’t proper road facilities especially in mountain regions. They depend highly on bicycles to collect firewood, to load goods and for personal transport.

Thus bicycles serve as the most affordable, useful means of transport in most of the developing countries today also.
